    Guten Tag Friends! Updated 6/8/2021 In compliance with state and local officials, the Athenaeum will abide by the updated guidelines set forth by the city county council and will no longer require, but continue to encourage, masks inside or outside in the common areas of the Athenaeum. Each of our tenants gets to make their own policies based on what’s best for them and their employees within their spaces. We encourage everyone to bring a mask when you are visiting the Athenaeum, as certain businesses and events will ease out of the mask requirements more slowly and may ask that you wear a mask when visiting their business….

    Updated 3/16/2020 In light of tenant closures, government and CDC recommendations, we are closing the Athenaeum. We are closing the west side of the building, effective today at 4pm, to the public. The Rathskeller and Coat Check Coffee are now closed. The YMCA will be open until 10pm tonight and will be closed thereafter. Once they close, the entire building will be closed to the general public.     The Public Collection Announces 12th Book Share Station, Celebrating Immigration, Inclusion, and Education Rachel Simon’s art and literacy project has shared nearly 80,000 books in community. The Public Collection announced today the artist and location for its 12th book share station since 2015. The new installation, titled Fissure and created by Indianapolis-based artists Quincy Owens and Luke Crawley, will open outside the Athenaeum in a new pocket park along New Jersey Street in mid to late spring.
